Suzanne R. Hawley, PhD, MPH, is a clinical psychologist and has worked as a clinician and researcher in various multidisciplinary settings over the past five years. Her primary role as a clinician has focused on the treatment of mental disorders in ethnically diverse children, adolescents and adults. She has worked in educational, community mental health, psychiatric hospital, and prison settings. Her research has focused on psychology and ethnically diverse groups. She has also taught several courses in psychology at the undergraduate and graduate level.

As an undergraduate, Dr. Hawley left her traditional educational training and traveled for a year with an international educational/performing group, where she represented the United States and lived in 60 cities in eight countries. This experience greatly impacted her world view, and expanded her interest in diverse cultures and human behavior. She completed her bachelor's degree in psychology and received the honor of Outstanding Undergraduate in 1993. She then received a fellowship to pursue her Master's in Experimental Psychology to develop her skills in basic research from California State University, San Bernardino. During this time, she also continued her active involvement and leadership in both local and state psychology organizations. After she received her MA in 1995, she went to Loma Linda University in California to pursue her PhD in clinical psychology. Her interests in health and research led her to enroll simultaneously in a Master of Public Health degree program with a concentration in Biostatistics at Loma Linda. After graduating from Loma Linda University with her MPH in 1999 and PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2002, she completed her post-doctoral training at Prairie View Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center in Newton, Kan.
